The word

Beshert isn't luck. It's recognition.

In Yiddish, באַשערט (beshert) means destined. It's the person you were always meant to find. Jewish tradition has long treated matchmaking as something serious and communal, not a numbers game, and that's the idea behind this app.

We built it for the Jewish community in South Africa, starting in Cape Town and Johannesburg, because we think the app should understand that denomination, observance, and how you keep a home matter just as much as a good photo.

Under the hood

Built around what actually matters

Shabbat mode

Switch it on and the app goes quiet from candle lighting on Friday until Shabbat goes out. Notifications wait, swiping pauses. It works the times out from where you are, so they stay right as the year turns.

Gatherings, on the Jewish calendar

The tab opens with what's actually coming up. Rosh Hashanah, Chanukah, a seder, or just this Friday night. Tap one to host it and the date and your local candle lighting time are already filled in. Real meals, in person.

Jewish geography

The question everyone asks anyway. A profile shows what the two of you already share. The same shul, the same youth movement, the same school, or friends in common.

Matching that goes deeper

Denomination, observance level, how you keep kosher, how often you're at shul, whether you want kids. Set your own, and filter for theirs.

Prompts, not just photos

Answer a few honest prompts so a match knows who you are before the first message.

Pods

Meet a small, curated group of people at once. It's a nice change of pace from one-on-one swiping.

Verified, for real

Photo verification and a visible badge, so who you're talking to is who they say they are.

Built with care

We're a small, independent team, not a growth-hacked machine. We'd rather get it right than get it big fast.

Got an idea?

Tell us what would make this better.

We're still building this, and the community's input shapes what we build next. Bug you found, feature you're missing, anything at all, we read every message.

Got it, thank you. We'll take a real look.
